Two notable steel structures located in the Carolinas are the Nascar Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C. and Lee Hall III, a part of Clemson University’s College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities in South Carolina. Both of these structures received IDEAS2 awards from the American Institute of Steel.

Built to imitate the sleek curves and smooth lines of both Nascar tracks and vehicles, the Nascar Hall of Fame features thousands of steel panels fit together perfectly to form the Ribbon, which wraps around the entire building.

At 35 feet tall, Lee Hall III was constructed to inspire energy efficiency and was awarded the LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
