How far north do you need to go to find snow in December?

In 2015 snow came as far south in December as Northwestern Texas, the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Southern California and upstate New York on the Eastern seaboard. Snow cover varies from year to year.

The high mountains in Southern California, New Mexico and Arizona are the regions furthest south that get snow cover. Snow stays farthest north along the Eastern seaboard, with occasional snow descending as far south as Virginia and the Carolinas, but typically staying north of Delaware.
