How far does a wave travel in one period?

The period of a wave is the time it takes for a wave to complete one full cycle. The distance traveled by one full cycle of a wave is measured as its wavelength.

Waves are examples of periodic motion where the particles vibrate or oscillate back and forth. One complete oscillation of the particle is defined as one wave. The time taken for just one oscillation is called the period of a wave. Within a wave?s period, since it has completed only one full cycle, the distance it covers is equal to its wavelength, which is the length of one wave.
