What are farm grants?

Farm grants are a type of subsidy given by the United States government to farmers and farm-related business through several federal agencies. These subsidies are also available at state or local levels, and even some private non-governmental organizations provide grants too.
Some of the most important grants that are available for farmers are provided by the United States Department of Agriculture via its Farm Service Agency, by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, and by the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program. The National Center for Appropriate Technology, a nongovernmental organization, also provides several grants for farmers and farm-related businesses.
