What are feeder roaches?

Feeder roaches are known as Dubia roaches. Males grow to 4 centimeters and their wings can range from brown to black. Females grow to more than 4 1/2 centimeters and their abdomens range from black to dark brown with orange edges.

Feeder roaches are found in central and south America. Males have full wings, but females only have stubs. Female feeder roaches live approximately 2 years, while males live approximately 1 year. Females produce 20 nymphs, and the nymphs take 4 to 6 months to mature. The nymphs molt 7 times before they reach adulthood. Feeder roaches eat fallen fruit, leaf litter, roots, seeds and leaves.
