As of 2015, there is no ferry service from Bar Harbor, Maine, to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The ferry service from Bar Harbor to nearby Yarmouth has been discontinued. Those wishing to travel to Halifax from Bar Harbor can either drive or take a ferry from other area cities.

Those wishing to use a ferry service to travel to Nova Scotia have several other options. One summer option is to take a ferry from Portland, Maine, to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Another option is to drive from Bar Harbor to Saint John, New Brusnwick to take a ferry to Digby, Nove Scotia. From there, visitors can continue on to Halifax by car.
