Also known as polycarbophil, FiberCon is a medication used for treating constipation, notes WebMD. FiberCon is a laxative and works by increasing the amount of water in the stool to make it soft and easier to pass.
A person should take this medication by mouth as directed by a doctor one to four times a day, according to Drugs.com. Dosage varies depending on medical condition, age and response to treatment. It takes one to three days for this drug to start working. Patients should not take this medication for more than seven days unless a doctor advises otherwise. FiberCon is also available as a chewable tablet.
