What is a field hockey ball made of?
By Forinfos - 13/07/2025 - 0 comments
A field hockey ball is round and generally made of hard plastic, although sometimes it has a core made out of cork. Historically, the ball has also been made out of wood and Indian rubber.
A field hockey ball is usually white, but it can be any color so long as it is in contrast with the playing surface. Measuring between 8.8 and 9.3 inches around, the ball weighs between 5.5 and 5.7 ounces. It may be covered with indentations, which are added to reduce the hydroplaning that can cause the ball to travel at an inconsistent speed on a wet field.
