What is the Fingerhut FreshStart program?

The Fingerhut FreshStart program allows customers to build their credit by buying merchandise and paying the balance in small monthly installments. After customers in the program make timely payments, the company extends a revolving credit line from which they can continue to make purchases, explains Fingerhut.

The initial purchase must be between $50 and the established credit limit. A down payment of $30 is required, and the remainder of the balance is divided into six payments and given a monthly due date. Each month the payment needs to be made on time in order for the customer to graduate to the next level of the program. An application and credit check are required to join the program.
