Fitzsimmons Credit Union in Aurora, Colorado, was founded on October 10, 1955, and was originally called Fitzsimmons Army Hospital Federal Credit Union. The credit union started with 15 members and $360 in assets. The first branch consisted of two desks located in an office.
Fitzsimmons Credit Union was the first in the United States to offer membership to all retired military members living within a 50-mile radius of Denver, Colorado, that had accessed services at Fitzsimmons General Hospital. The credit union expanded to 794 members and assets of $100,800 within 10 months of opening. It has three branches and over 150 shared branch locations along Colorado's Front Range, as of July 2015.
