To remove fleas off a young kitten, fill a sink with warm water and carefully hold the kitten in the sink while washing it with a little bit of mild soap before brushing and rinsing the animal. Comb through the fur of the animal and then apply petroleum jelly around any sensitive areas after using a towel to dry the kitten off.
It is important to remove fleas and ticks from baby kittens immediately because the small animal needs all of its blood to be healthy. Use the following steps to remove fleas from a very young kitten.
- Fill a sink with warm water.
- Lather the kitten in a shampoo for sensitive skin.
- Brush the kitten while rinsing it off.
- Dry the animal and put petroleum jelly around the mouth, ears, nose, butt and eyes.
Fill a sink with a little warm water. Make sure the water is not so hot that it will hurt the kitten.
Do not use a lot of shampoo. Instead, only add a little bit at a time.
Brushing the kitten while rinsing it off will pick up fleas from the animal's fur. Place the fleas in hot water to kill them. Make sure that the kitten's head never goes under water.
Petroleum jelly will stop fleas from going into sensitive areas on the kitten.
