What do Florida panthers eat?

The white-tailed deer is a primary food source for the Florida panther, but they also eat rabbits, raccoon, wild boar and other small animals. The Florida panther is a critically endangered species. It's estimated that fewer than 200 of them exist in the wild, as of 2015.

Florida is home to the only viable breeding population of adult and sub-adult panthers. They are solitary and can roam for hundreds of miles in an established territory searching for food. Their most active hunting hours are at dawn and dusk, when they also prey upon hare, mice, water fowl and even the occasional alligator.
