Food Basics is a discount grocery and pharmacy chain that started in 1995. As of 2014, all of the Food Basics stores are located in Ontario. A number of Metro stores are slated to be converted to the Food Basics brand of stores in 2014. The parent company, Metro Inc., also owns and operates a number of other grocery chains throughout Canada, such as Super C and the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company.
