Red haven peaches were founded in 1940 by Michigan State University's Dr. Stanley Johnston. They were produced for the first time in South Haven, Michigan. Red haven peaches have a long shelf life. They are freestone peaches, which means their inner side can be removed without wasting half of the peach. Red haven peaches are used all over the world to make jellies and jams. This fruit can be enjoyed fresh or canned.
