What is the Ford World Women's Curling Championship?

The Ford World Women's Curling Championship is curling's annual women's world team championship. Twelve national teams compete, in group and knockout play, over nine days.
Ford is the sponsor for the 2016 tournament. The tournament is scheduled for March 19-27 at the Credit Union i-Plex arena in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The city also hosted the tournament in 2010. Canada last hosted the tournament in 2014 in Saint John, Newfoundland.
Switzerland won the 2015 championship by defeating Canada, 5-3, in the gold-medal match in Sapporo, Japan. The bronze-medal match was won by Russia, 13-4, over Scotland. The United States placed 10th and did not quality for the knockout stage.
