The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services uses the Form I-797C Notice of Action to let an applicant involved in an immigration case know when a case is re-opened, rejected or transferred, according to the USCIS website. This form also provides notice of appointments or receipt of information and documents.
The Form I-797C often contains important details and instructions. If an applicant fails to follow those instructions, it can have a negative impact, such as a delay, on the application for immigration-related services.
The Notice of Action doesn't grant any immigration status or benefit. While the form was once printed on high-quality bond paper, the USCIS has printed it on plain bond paper since April 2, 2012. Forms received before April 2012 are still valid.
