George Westinghouse founded Westinghouse on January 8, 1886. Westinghouse was an American entrepreneur and engineer who invented railways air brakes. He was also a pioneer of the electrical industry.
George Westinghouse was born on October 6, 1846, in central Bridge, New York. He founded Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company to improve AC power generators at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He died on March 12, 1914 in New York City.
George Westinghouse had previously founded Westinghouse Air Brakes Company in 1869, which in 1995 purchased CBS and became CBS corporation in 1997. In 1998, CBS established the brand licensing subsidiary known as Westinghouse Licensing Corporation.
