FoxPro is a programming language and database management system used to create software and support relationships between computer data files. It was derived from several earlier languages, including dBase II, dBase III and FoxBase. Fox Software was the language's original creator, but FoxPro has been supported by Microsoft since 1992.
Fox Software's best-known products prior to its 1992 acquisition by Microsoft were its FoxBase 1984 language offering and its FoxPro 2.0 1991 Microsoft disc operating system. FoxPro 2.6, the programming language's latest version as of October 2015, is compatible with a variety of different operating systems including Windows XP, Macintosh, UNIX, Linux and Windows 2000.
