What is a foxtail fern?

A foxtail fern is not a true fern. Rather, it is an evergreen flowering plant that comes from the lily family, according to Gardening Know How. Foxtail ferns do not reproduce from spores like ferns do; they produce seed instead.

Foxtail ferns have white flowers and green needle-like leaves. They need a partial shade environment whether they are grown indoors or outdoors. They produce red berries. The plant is tougher than it appears and is hardy in USDA hardiness zones 9 to 11. Plumes cut from the plant last 2 to 3 weeks, making them ideal for cut flower arrangements.
