What is French traditional clothing?

Traditional French clothing varies from one region to another, but it mainly consists of garments inspired by the rural costumes of the 18th century. For example, the traditional clothing of women in Brittany includes a lace-trimmed embroidered shawl, a dress, an apron and a cap, whereas men wear a shirt, waistcoat and knee breeches.
In Provence, the upper part of a traditional costume for women consists of a bodice, over which a woman wears a white triangular bib and headscarf. The skirt of the costume is often decorated richly with organza, tulle or silk. The French usually wear their traditional costumes for festivals and various national celebrations.
