Are Free Friday books really free?

As of 2015, the e-books that Barnes & Noble Inc. provides on the Nook blog as part of its Free Fridays program are only free on that specific day. If a user downloads a free e-book during that promotional period, she can keep it on her Nook device indefinitely.

By visiting the Free Fridays section of the official Nook blog, visitors can peruse the latest promoted e-book and an archive of e-books that were part of the Free Fridays program in the past. In addition to e-books, Barnes & Noble Inc. provides a different free app each week as part of the promotional package.
