What is a gas tank repair kit?

A gas tank repair kit is a set of substances, sold in a kit, used to repair small pinholes and larger holes in vehicle gas tanks. The manufacturers of these kits promise easy and quick use of their products.

One of the substances found in the kit removes build-up in the gas tank. Another substance removes rust and etches the inside of the tank. It also leaves a phosphate coating so the sealer will stick to it when the vehicle owner pours it in. For larger holes, gas tank repair kits come with an epoxy putty that dries solid, as if it is a part of the tank.
