Does Gatorade replenish electrolytes?

Gatorade does replenish electrolytes, according to WebMD.com. The University of North Carolina's Dr. Steven Zeisel considers Gatorade better than water due to its ability to replenish electrolytes lost in sweat.
The National Institute of Health reports that electrolytes carry a charge and affect blood acidity and water level. Gatorade's electrolytes include potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium. These electrolytes provide the adequate amount to the body, specifically the muscles, says Zeisel. He claims that the sugar content of Gatorade is less than the amount that one burns through exercise. In addition, Zeisel reports that additives do not make significant differences in electrolyte replenishment.
