Are GE appliances durable?

Some GE appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, cooktops and ovens are considered the most durable on the market, according to Consumer Reports. GE top- and bottom-freezer style refrigerators are more prone to repairs than Whirlpool or Kenmore, but the GE French-door style refrigerator has an A rating from Good Housekeeping.

Many of GE's appliances have an Energy Star rating. GE is an American-based appliance manufacturer, and many of GE's appliances use over 85 percent American-made parts. Other highly ranked appliance brands are Bosch, Frigidaire and KitchenAid, as of 2015. Often, one brand of appliances rank highly in a particular category, while ranking poorly in another category.
