Which generation is generally referred to as Generation Y?

Generation Y, also known as the millennials, is a term that applies to people who were born between 1982 and 2000. Many people call this age group Generation Y because the millennials were born after the group known as Generation X.

Many people in this age group have moved back in with their parents as a result of economic problems, which is why Generation Y is sometimes known as the boomerang generation. Generation Y is sometimes known as the Peter Pan generation due to a general avoidance of common adult rites of passage, such as getting married or starting a career.
