The Appomattox Court House is located at 111 National Park Dr. Appomattox, Virginia, 24522, as of 2015. The village is in south central Virginia, approximately 95 miles west of Richmond, according to the National Park Service.

The main parking area to the Appomattox Court House National Historic Park is located on Route 24, about 2 miles northeast of Appomattox, Virginia. Within the village of Appomattox Court House lies the famous McLean House where, on April 9, 1865, General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Confederate Army to General Ulysses S. Grant, thus ending the American Civil War. The house was registered with the National Park Service database of Official Structures in 1989.
