The Palancar Reef is located on the southwestern coastline of Cozumel island in Mexico. The Palancar Reef is impressively large and is part of the Cozumel Reefs National Park. The reef is a popular destination for scuba diving, as it has swim-through corals, steep walls and picturesque coral formations.
The depth of Palancar Reef varies between 50 and 100 feet. This area was initially made popular by the well-known diver Jacques Cousteau. The island of Cozumel has a tropical savanna climate and is located on the eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. The island is approximately 30 miles long and 10 miles wide.
