Germicidal bleach is the first choice for disinfecting hard surfaces, according to Clorox. It is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency to kill Clostridium difficle spores, commonly known as c-difficle, a bacterial species that causes pseudomembranous colitis.

Germicidal bleach has been proven to kill more viruses and germs than any other bleach. It is recommended by the CDC to disinfect surfaces contaminated by hard-to-kill pathogens, which are microorganisms capable of producing disease, such as Norovirus. When combined with good hand sanitizing practice, germicidal bleach can be effective in stopping the transmission of these pathogens. Germicidal bleach is also effective for controlling mold and mildew in bathrooms.. .
