What is the germination of kidney beans?

Germination is the process of plant growth from a seed or spore. Kidney beans usually germinate within a week of planting, provided that they are kept moist.
Kidney beans should not be planted until after the danger of frost has passed. They germinate best at soil temperatures above 64 degrees Fahrenheit and should be planted 1 to 2 inches deep for best results. They have shallow root systems and need 1 inch of water from rain or irrigation per week to continue growing well. Ground that is too moist inhibits germination, but a thin layer of mulch keeps the top layer of soil from drying out too rapidly.
