Gigantism is a rare clinical condition that affects around three people in a million. The skeleton found near Rome would have been 6 feet, 8 inches tall, making him shorter than the world's tallest currently living man, who is 8 feet, 3 inches tall. Internet hoaxes tend to claim, falsely, that the remains of much taller people have been found. One hoax said that a 15-foot-tall man's remains were found in Greece.
