Where do giraffes come from?

The range of the giraffe includes southern, eastern and central Africa. They live on the African savannas, open plains, forests and in arid land. They tend to be distributed near areas where there are tall trees that provide leaves for them to eat.

The giraffe prefers the leaves of the acacia tree; the moisture from this type of leaf replaces water when the giraffe goes without a ready source of water.

Giraffes are the tallest mammals in the world and are characterized by their spotted patterns and long necks. They also have two knobs on top of their heads that they use to protect their heads during combat.
