What is a good armadillo repellent?

The best way to repel an armadillo is to build a fence around the yard. Fence panels should be hung close together so that the armadillo can't squeeze through them. The bottom of the fence should extend at least 1 foot underground to keep the armadillo from digging underneath.

If building a fence is too costly, other repellent techniques can be attempted. Armadillos have a strong sense of smell, making chemicals such as vinegar, ammonia and pine cleanser good scents for repelling them. Using pine bark mulch around the base of plants may deter digging in flower beds. If all these repellents fail, trapping the armadillo may be the best option for ridding a yard of its presence.
