What is a good burn cream?

An ointment with aloe vera or petrolatum can be applied on minor burns, states Medline Plus. An antibiotic ointment can be applied, but it is not necessary. For burns that are deeper or larger, seek medical care immediately.

To care for minor burns, wash the area gently with soap and water. Apply a thin layer of aloe vera ointment on the burn, then cover it lightly with a sterile nonstick gauze. The dressing should be changed daily. To relieve pain, the affected person can take a pain reliever, such as Tylenol, Aleve, Advil or aspirin. Children aged two and below should not take aspirin, states Medline Plus.
