As of 2015, all states divide the state board CNA test into two parts. The first is a written exam in which students answer multiple choice and short answer questions about the duties and responsibilities of a CNA. Some states also include a reading comprehension section on the written test. The second part of the exam tests practical skills. Students are required to demonstrate a variety of medical and hygienic tasks on a live model.
