A good diet for arthritis is one that features anti-inflammatory foods, notes the Arthritis Foundation. This diet is low in saturated fats and processed foods and rich in fish, beans, nuts, fruits and vegetables. The anti-inflammatory diet follows the same principles as the Mediterranean diet.
To control inflammation and lessen symptoms of arthritis, eat 3 or 4 ounces of fish twice each week to take advantage of anti-inflammatory properties, advises the Arthritis Foundation. Eat 1.5 ounces of nuts daily, and try to work in nine or more servings of fresh fruits and vegetables each day, keeping in mind that the darker the vegetable or the more brilliant its color, the healthier it is.
