Henry Hudson was an English explorer during the Age of Discovery. His expeditions took him into Canada, present day New York and far north into the Arctic Ocean. He searched for the fabled Northwest Passage, a northern sea route to Asia. He went on four expeditions in his life.
A number of bodies of water bear Henry Hudson's name including the Hudson River in New York State and Hudson Bay in northern Canada. His final voyage saw his son, his crew and him stuck in the ice near James Bay in Canada. His crew mutinied and set his son and him adrift, where they both perished from the elements.
