As of October 2015, the highest rates for five-year CDs include 2.27 percent at CIT Bank, 2.25 percent at Synchrony Bank and 2 percent at Ally Bank. Jumbo certificate of deposit interest rates can vary widely depending on the term of the CD, as MoneyRates.com points out.
Synchrony Bank offers a 1.25 percent interest rate on jumbo CDs with a one-year term and a 1.6 percent rate on jumbo CDs with a three-year term. Jumbo CDs, which require a minimum deposit of $100,000, often pay up to a full percentage point of interest more than CDs of lesser amounts; they are only insured up to $250,000, according to MoneyRates.com.
