Common homemade tanning bed cleaning solutions consist of distilled water and white vinegar. The addition of lemon juice and certain essential oils, such as tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon or lavender, provide greater disinfecting power and a more pleasant smell.

For a basic cleaner, simply combine one cup distilled water and one cup white vinegar in a spray bottle. Before use, shake the mixture, and then spray the entire tanning surface, and wipe clean. To liven up the cleaner, add a few teaspoons of lemon juice and a few drops of essential oil. In addition to cleaning up sweat residue, vinegar and certain essential oils prevent fungus and bacteria from growing on the bed.
