What makes a good leader?

A leader must be a visionary with the ability to influence others to pursue a given course. Qualities such as intelligence, determination, motivation, self-awareness and good communication skills are also important.

An individual who can articulate issues well and present a course of action for people to achieve a common goal is likely to become a good leader. Self-awareness enables a leader to understand his or her own strengths and weaknesses, thereby identifying ways to achieve the best results. Good leaders have emotional intelligence, and are able to care for others in such a way that their followers are loyal and motivated.
