When is a good time to plant avocado trees?

Avocados should be planted during the spring months of March through June. Avocados should be planted in nonlawn areas where they can receive full sunlight.
Avocados do best in moderate temperatures ranging from 60 to 85 F. Fully established trees can survive in temperatures as low as 32 to 28 F. A grower should build a small mound to elevate the avocado tree if he is planting it in heavy clay soil. Avocado trees should usually be watered three to four times a week, with slight modifications made to the watering schedule if the soil remains too damp or becomes too dry. To aerate the soil, growers should add one-third cubic yard of coarse mulch.
