How does Google Wallet work?

Google Wallet is a mobile phone application that employs what's technically called near-field communication, so users can cay for products with a swipe of their phone. Near field communication, or NFC, is the same tap-and-pay technology in Apply Pay. It transfers data from the smartphone to the point-of-sale terminal.

Google Wallet takes any debit or credit card and works with any mobile carrier. The application is available on United States-based, NFC-enabled Android devices running 4.4, nicknamed KitKat, or higher; however, a few devices with KitKat may not support it. U.S.-based, non-NFC device users must have Android 2.3, nicknamed Gingerbread, or higher, or iOS 6 or higher.
