What is the government agency that posts a list of recalled items?

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission posts lists of recalled consumer items. The CPSC provides access to publicly available recall information, recall lists by product and information relative to recall lawsuits and violations.

The CPSC is an independent agency with an underlying goal to notify and protect the public from potential injury or death related to consumer products, such as toys, child care products, power tools, vehicles and household chemicals. The CPSC was created in 1972 by the Consumer Product Safety Act, and while it is not part of a federal department or agency, it does report to the president and the U.S. Congress.
