Aung San Suu Kyi fought against the lack of freedom and the oppression of the people in Burma, and she is known as a human rights activist. She ended up spending several years of her life in house arrest for her political views that went against the human rights violations and dictatorship in Myanmar.

Aung San Suu Kyi was inspired to fight against the government of Burma after seeing protesters get slaughtered, and she soon after became a political prisoner because she spoke out against the government's wrongdoings. Although the government gave her the option to leave Burma and get out of house arrest, she opted not to do so since she wanted to continue fighting against the government until Burma had a civilian government.
