Key differences between the House and the Senate of the U.S. Congress include size, length of term and certain duties. The House of Representatives is much larger, with 435 members compared to the Senate's 100 members. Terms are two years in the House and six in the Senate.
The House of Representatives is charged with the power to initiate revenue bills and articles of impeachment. The Senate offers "advice and consent" on such matters as treaties and presidential appointments. The Senate tries any impeached officials, including the president. Specialities in the House include tax and revenue policies, while the Senate often concentrates more on foreign policy.
