The New Deal Coalition brought together a block of voters and liberals who voted to support Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal policies. This coalition lasted for more then 30 years and ended in 1966.
Franklin Roosevelt led the New Deal Coalition when he brought together the Democratic party, minorities, labor unions, the Mountain West, the white South and intellectuals to support the New Deal and other policies for equality. The 1932 election of Roosevelt saw a realignment of the Democratic party. From 1932 to 1966, this coalition fueled presidential elections, although it lost control of Congress in 1937.
