On Jan. 20, 2014, police arrested Dallas defense attorney Phillip Robertson for felony drug possession and possession of misdemeanor drug paraphernalia. His release on a $1,500 bond followed the same day.

According to the police report, staff at the Quality Inn on Interstate 30 in Dallas, Texas, called police to report a possible overdose. Police arrived to find paramedics already treating an unconscious Robertson. Police found methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Paramedics successfully revived Robertson. He told officers he couldn't remember anything that had happened after 5 p.m. the prior evening. The police took Robertson to a local hospital at his request.
