John Denver got divorced from his first wife, Annie Martell. Annie Denver asked for a divorce in 1982 after John Denver admitted to several incidents of infidelity.

Annie and John were married for more than 10 years but experienced several ups and downs in the relationship. John Denver wrote the song "Annie's Song" after a period of time when the two almost ended their marriage in 1975. After divorcing Annie, John Denver married Cassandra Delaney in 1988, and that marriage also ended in divorce. John meet Annie in college, and the two adopted two children together. Cassandra was an Australian actress and had a daughter when she married John.
