Are grains bad for you?

Grains aren't bad for most people, but grains can cause problems for people with certain conditions like celiac disease, notes WebMD. For people who don't have celiac disease, not eating whole grains can be more dangerous than eating whole grains because these grains are a good source of fiber, minerals and vitamins.
It is usually better to choose whole grains rather than refined grains because refined grains lose up to 80 percent of the nutrients when germ and bran are removed during the refining process, according to the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. Individuals who wish to avoid gluten while enjoying whole grains can choose buckeye flour or quinoa instead.
