What is a graveside service?
By Forinfos - 28/11/2025 - 0 comments
Named for its proximity to the place of interment, a graveside service occurs near the grave, crypt or receptacle where the remains of the departed are placed.
Generally brief, the graveside service may occur after a traditional funeral service, before a burial service or as a singular event. The ritual varies widely around the world. Commonly, readings, stories or prayers are said at the site according to relevant cultural and religious practices. While seating may be available and this type of service open to the public, etiquette dictates that members of the immediate family and the elderly are seated first.
