Where is the Great Rift Valley located?

The Great Rift Valley is a conceptual definition of a series of rift valley systems that stretch from Madagascar to the Middle East. The area around this rift system has a combination of hot springs, geysers and seismic activity.

As of 2014, the Great Rift Valley system is divided into six rift systems. The Jordan Rift Valley system is in Western Asia and includes the Dead Sea, which has the lowest land elevation on Earth at 1,237 feet deep. The Red Sea Rift is located south of the Jordan Rift Valley, and the ongoing plate activity between the African and Arabian tectonic plates here causes an ongoing widening of the Red Sea.
